CIHA Annual Meeting 2017

Meeting called to order on November 10th at 7:00 PM at the White Lake Township old town hall. Old Business

Neighborhood Directory
The new directory is finished. Look for it in your mailbox this week. We sold $1695 in ads. It cost $550 to print for a profit of $1145!

Halloween Bonfire 
The Halloween bonfire was a big success thanks to beautiful Halloween weather and a great group of volunteers. Thank you to Freeride Marine for donating the cookies and cider and to Joe Raye and Darren Lewis for tending the fire. Also thank you to Lewis Bros. for providing the pallets. Thanks to our generous volunteers the association’s cost of the bonfire was $0!

Weed and Feed
As approved at the Summer Meeting, we have hired a weed and feed service for the subdivision entrance and the cul de sac islands. We have contracted with “Go Green” who was recommended by several members.  They did a late fall application and will do four treatments next year.

Snow Plowing 
The snow plowing contract has been signed. We are using the same company as last year. Last year we had an early snowfall before the ground was frozen and there was damage to sod near the road where members did not place stakes. This year we will pay the snow plow company to stake the neighborhood which should avoid sod damage and improve the clean up on the cul de sacs and narrow areas.

Park Insurance
 We have renewed our policy with Auto Owners insurance for coverage at the park. 

Treasurers Report
We have collected $10,900 in dues so far this year with 109 of 146 members paying. Please see attached Financial Statement for details. Please note that although we have $6500 in the budget that has not yet been spent, we have several large bills to pay in the last quarter and we also need to fund our reserve.  We expect to use almost all of this “excess” by year end. 

New Business

Holiday Bonfire
The Holiday Bonfire will be Sunday December 18 at 7:00 pm. This year we will again be collecting Toys for Tots. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.  Donations should be dropped off in the collection box at the Holiday Bonfire.

Entrance Sign
As you may have noticed our entrance sign is ready for the holidays. Thank you to Brenda Simpkins and Linda Raye for decorating the entrance. Also thank you Freeride Marine for paying for the decorations. 

Board Elections
Annual elections were held. All of last year’s officers ran unopposed and were reelected with the exception of the secretary position. Kelly House stepped down as secretary and Sherry Woodbeck was elected to the position.

A few members had questions about the status of the petition drive to start a SAD to bring sewers to our subdivision.  Pat O’Neill was at the meeting and responded to the questions.   Everyone should have received petitions via email.  A corrected copy of the petition was mailed to Burgess Court residents as that street name was left off the SAD description in error.  About 50 of the 92 required signatures have been collected.  If enough residents sign the petition, the Township Board will hold a public meeting so that all sides may be heard before the Township Board votes on the issue.  Pat and others will be conducting a door to door petition drive to collect additional signatures. 

We were advised by the Township that once the sewers are installed at the street, residents would be required to tie into the sewer if their septic system failed.  There was a question as to whether this was a Township or County Health Department requirement and whether it could be waived.  Pat O’Neill is checking on this and will report back.  

Thank You Kelly House
A big thank you to outgoing secretary Kelly House.  Kelly has served as both Vice President and Secretary for 7 years and is taking a well-deserved break from the Board.
